Michael Siegel is a Principal Research Scientist at the MIT Sloan School of Management. He is also the Associate Director of the Interdisciplinary Consortium on Improving Critical Cybersecurity Infrastructure (IC) 3 at MIT Sloan. His recent research includes cybersecurity and critical infrastructure, modeling vulnerability markets, industrial control systems cybersecurity
strategy and management, and the analysis of vulnerability markets. During his more than 26 years at MIT, Siegel’s research interests have included the use of dynamic modeling and data mining for management and process improvement in critical systems, applications of computational social science to analyzing state stability and cyber security, digital business and financial services, financial risk management, value-at- risk benchmarking, heterogeneous database systems, managing data semantics, query optimization, intelligent database systems, and learning in database systems. Siegel has been active in research to improve cyber systems through critical infrastructure analysis, simulating approaches to patching vulnerabilities, bug bounty programs, and modeling of improvements to software development and maintenance.
